About Tug of War Tournament

Tug of War at BLAZE 2026 is the ultimate test of raw power, unity, and grit. Teams dig in, grip the rope, and pull with everything they've got in the most primal team competition in sports. This crowd favourite brings enormous energy, incredible roars of support, and an atmosphere unlike any other event at the festival.

It's not just about brute strength — technique, coordination, and team strategy determine who claims victory. Whether you're powering the anchor position or driving the pull, every member of the team matters. Together you pull, together you win.

Requirements

Team Requirements

8 players per team (active pullers)
1 coach + 1 manager allowed (optional).
All members must be present in IILM campus

Equipment & Attire

Flat-soled sports shoes (mandatory)
Rope provided by organizers
Rope length: ~33–35 meters
Rope diameter: 10–12 cm

Rules

Men’s: ≤ 700 kg total team weight
Women’s: ≤ 550 kg total team weight
Weight is measured before matches
Each match is played in a Best of 3 pulls, Each pull lasts maximum 5 minutes.
Teams must remain stationary before the pull command.
Referee gives commands: “Pick up the rope” “Take the strain” “Pull” (whistle)
